Meet Theresa Parker

July 9, 2007 / by thegagal

The real story of the real victim in the disappearance of Theresa Parker...........

Theresa Parker is a beloved sister, daughter, aunt, coworker, family member, and friend to many people. She was a 911 operator in Lafayette, Georgia and has been missing since March 21. She left her sister's home that Wednesday evening and said she was on her way to clean out her new apartment she had just rented. When family couldn't reach her for days, they reported her missing. The police found her vehicle still in the driveway of the marital home on Cordell Road in Lafayette so they know she didn't drive away. Her purse and cell phone were the only things missing.

She was married to a Lafayette police officer, Sam Parker, and they were in the midst of a divorce. There was evidence of domestic abuse with previous calls made by Theresa to 911 in the years leading up to this. There was also an incident in Florida where Theresa had to call 911 because Sam fired his gun out of a motel room window and threatened to kill himself and Theresa. After that incident, he spent 9 days in a mental institution and was put on a 2-year probationary period at the police department, which was completed in the months before Theresa's disappearance.

Until Theresa could get completely moved out, the husband was staying at his deceased father's home in Trion, GA, but was in and out of the house. He admits to going to the marital home early Thursday morning around 6, he says to get a boat motor for a planned fishing trip with a local lawyer named Bill Slack (note paragraph below about fishing trip). He claims the vehicle was there but the door was closed so he assumed she was asleep. He says he went back around 3 that afternoon and the vehicle was still there but the door was open and Theresa was gone. He didn't report her missing though and went on with his life claiming to know nothing until Theresa's sister called days later wanting to know if he had seen or talked to her.

There was also talk on a local radio show where Theresa's sister reportedly said that she got worried and called the nonemergency 911 number where her sister also worked the morning after she last saw her and asked them to do a courtesy check on her because she had gotten a call from her house late the night before while she was asleep and couldn't get her sister on the phone. An officer said he rode by around 6 a.m. and that Sam Parker's truck was there but Theresa's wasn't. The sister said the officer said he rode back by about an hour later and Sam's vehicle was gone and Theresa's 4-runner was back. This would be the same morning Sam claimed to go there for the boat motor except he said that Theresa's vehicle was there. This would make one wonder did he drive Theresa's vehicle somewhere during the night or early morning hours and if so where to? We also now know that the GBI found drops of human blood in the creases of the hatchback of Theresa's 4-runner.

FISHING TRIP: In recent developments, news channel 9 has confirmed that there has been a hole found in Sam Parker's alibi. He and the local attorney have claimed to be on a fishing trip together in which they went fishing in Summerville, ate at local bar-b-q place, and arrived back in Lafayette at 3 o'clock. Jane Melton, another attorney in Lafayette, who was handling their divorce said Sam Parker was in her office on that same day at 11:30, that he dropped by wanting to know the status of his divorce. This means he couldn't have been on the fishing trip until 3:00 with the lawyer. Melton confirmed this to news channel 9 and said she has also given this information to the investigators. This is one of the details that the GBI had been keeping close to their vest since the gag order that has leaked out. What would be the reason for lying about the trip? If they only lied about the time they got back, this wouldn't help prove his innocence because Theresa is suspected to have been harmed the night before after the 10:44 call made from her home and before around 7:00 a.m. the next morning when the officer saw her vehicle back at home and Sam's gone so the 3-1/2 hours they lied about doesn't make sense and instead leads to the assumption that the hours of the trip weren't lied about but that in fact the whole trip was made up and never took place. Why would he make up a fishing trip and get someone to lie for him??? Maybe to give an explanation of why his vehicle was seen there early that morning by the police officers during the well check.

Also, a police officer named Ben Chaffin who worked directly up under Sam Parker was arrested for giving a false statement to investigators about Theresa Parker's disappearance. There have been a lot of rumors of what he lied about, but so far the police will not say; they will only say it is directly related to Theresa's disappearance and is significant. He is out of jail on bond at this time.

Sam Parker is the only suspect in the case and has since been fired from his police duties after they found explosives in his police locker after GBI obtained a warrant to search them. Sam gave an interview to Fox 5 News where he spoke not about Theresa but only about the problems this was causing him while at the same time he claimed he thought Theresa was alive and knew where she was but that he wasn't going to tell because if she is happy then that is fine.

Also, there were several people, including the ex-wife of Sam Parker and fellow police officers, who signed an affidavit on the search warrant that he had bragged he could kill somebody and get rid of the body to where no one would ever find it. One of the officers said he said that as recently as a few weeks before the disappearance. All of this along with other evidence is leading everyone to fear the worst.

The GBI is heading up the investigation and the case has been assigned to the Floyd County DA to avoid any accusations of mishandling since Sam was a police officer for the county and worked very closely with the Walker DA and their investigators and was personal friends with some as well. In the letter from the local DA asking for the case to be assigned to someone else, he stated, "Evidence gathered so far by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Walker County Sheriff’s Office suggests Theresa Parker may have been killed by Sam Parker although no body has been found."

The police have conducted searches for Theresa, as well as 2 where they had volunteers help. This has centered mainly around South Walker County as that is where the last record of Theresa's cell phone was shortly after midnight that Wednesday night. The police have not released many details on that call, and there has been some speculation as to whether it was actually an outgoing call, an incoming call answered or not answered, or just a "ping" when the phone was searching for a signal. These results have so far not turned up anything, but they say they aren't going to give up and we aren't either.

There are so many people that are praying for Theresa and wanting justice to be served. No matter what their opinion on the case, Theresa has touched more people than you could imagine - even total strangers (like me). She has brought the subject of domestic violence to the forefront and made a lot of people realize that it is a big problem and shouldn't just be ignored by the police or outsiders looking in that may suspect what is going on. Theresa of course had already touched the lives of the people who knew and loved her just by being the person she was, but in her disappearance Theresa has put her mark on this world and made a lasting impression on people who never even knew her or who might not have ever thought about domestic violence since it wasn't affecting them personally.......we only wish it didn't take this to make that mark. We are still praying for you Theresa and your family and we won't forget.......

I am asking that everyone who reads this pray for Theresa Parker and her family and realize that they are the real victims here. In response to Dawgnurse's articles not about Theresa but instead about their troubles: Nobody's rights are being taken away or trampled on. The local LE, GBI, and FBI are only doing their job in trying to find this lovely woman and give her justice. Anyone that wants Theresa found and could have any information or knowledge should feel priviledged and proud to be interviewed by them instead of feeling like they are wasting their time and giving them nothing in return. I mean, what more could someone that truly loves Theresa want besides them trying to find her and bring her home? The news organizations and media aren't attacking anyone. In fact, instead of being criticized for reporting the truth, they should be thanked for putting Theresa's name out there and for doing their part in trying to find her. I can't imagine how anyone could be so selfish to only think about themselves and how their hair looks when a family is missing their daughter and their sister.....shame on you, shame on you.

Note: I felt so sorry for Sam's family including Carolyn and couldn't imagine what they were going through and prayed for them as well until I ran acros this blog. That is when it became apparent to me by the lack of articles about Theresa and the articles on their troubles and her attitude against law enforcement and the media that she was only concerned with feeling sorry for herself and Sam and making them out to be the victims. That is why I had to write this article, just to let all her online friends know the truth and put Theresa, the one whom needs our prayers, in the forefront.

Still praying for Theresa and her family,
GaGal

Thank you. I am afraid people will take my blog all wrong and think I'm only here to attack Dawgnurse but that's not the case; I just want people to know the whole story and keep Theresa and her family in their prayers....it's amazing what prayer can do.

Dawgnurse is a dear friend of mine and I know she hurts over this. She has asked me on several occasions to keep everyone especially Theresa in my prayers.[HEART][HEART][HEART] I do hope that they find her very soon.[SAD][HEART]

yes, we are all praying she is alive and well. We should pray for both families. However, facts are facts and hearsay is hearsay... it is not my place to judge and the truth will of course come out in the end, it always does. Thank the Lord. Justice should be and will be served, however, you are giving accounts of things that YOU think you know that are facts and statements and Carolyn is not privilaged to do for whatever reason, please keep that in mind. Unless you are with law enforcement, what you say could or couldn't be true. If indeed you ARE preevie to facts that no one else is, then it is unethical in my humble opinion to post. Of course, that's just my thoughts. Good luck to you in your blogging and look forward to reading more about you as a person.

The facts I gave in my blog are the details that the police have released so none of it is hearsay and everyone is privie to this information if they look up the articles.....I just compiled it in one article for people to read. My next blog will have the links to the news articles. As far as Carolyn not having the same priviledges, she is free to post whatever she wants or whatever she knows....if there is nothing to hide and Sam has done nothing wrong, then there would be no "repercussions" to what she posts and it couldn't harm the "people she loves"....of course that's just my thoughts. Thanks for reading and please continue to pray for Theresa.

I echo the comments of mentalhealthrn. I too am praying for all of those connected to Theresa in any way. It is not my place to judge, let alone to convict and crucify Sam Parker. The evidence will speak for itself and the truth will be found. As for what Carolyn posts or some of the comments made by Sam, I see people who are trying to continue living, trying to make sense out of a senseless situation. They aren't going to be able to be consumed 24/7....they do have to try to keep living. I've faced plenty of deep situations in my own life, and you reach a point where you have to try to look outside yourself and keep on moving. To others it looks like selfishness, but it is truly self-preservation.
My prayers to Theresa Parker, her family, her husband, her husband's family, and everyone who knows her.

I agree - in the end the truth will be known and justice will be served. As far as people going on with their lives, you're right - they have to. I wish Theresa could have gone on with hers.....My personal opinion that some people are only concerned with themselves has nothing to do with them going on with their lives; it's based on the comments they do make when the story is finally important enough to make it into their posts...not how they are praying or miss Theresa, not how they can't imagine what her family must be going through and how they wish they knew what happened and could bring her home but instead how hard things are on them, how awful the media and law enforcement are for doing their job, or better yet how their hair looks when they are on TV. My only purpose for my blog is so that the truth is known instead of being led to the assumption that Theresa just up and left and could be in one of your neighborhoods......
  • islandgirl said 1 years ago
But the thing is, we DON'T know what happened to Theresa or where she is. She might be dead, but she might also be in one of our neighborhoods. I hope the latter!
On the other points, I remember hearing and reading about a missing young boy, many years ago....a boy who disappeared while delivering the newspaper early in the morning. For many years the mom and dad were out there as a team, in front of the news media, etc. Many years later, they divorced, as is common in those situations. The two of them couldn't tolerate anymore of the way the other was "handling it" in their opinion. I don't remember which one, but one of them was very vocal, the other very withdrawn. The vocal one thought that's how the other should be and the withdrawn one thought the other should be more quiet about it. In the end, the entire family was destroyed. (And to my knowledge, the little boy was never found). I am not going to judge how anyone is handling the situation....everyone has to handle it in their own way.

should she be in OUR neighborhood, she would be seen. I sent her flyer out to over 50 people and then I'm sure they forwarded on. In time, truth will come prevail I feel.
  • catdancer said 1 years ago
I agree with mentalhealthrn and island girl. None of us knows what has happened to Theresa, but we are all praying for her safe return or at least resolution.

Carolyn is one of my friends here and I support and pray for her through this ordeal, and so do many others. No matter what any of us think about Theresa's disappearance, Carolyn deserves our love, respect and support.

Your criticism and attacks are inappropriate; lay off her.
  • thegagal said 1 years ago
Of course you have the right to your opinion but if this was your sister wouldn't you want the truth told? Wht is wrong with telling Theresa and her family's side of the story? Just because you know the character of Dawgnurse that Carolyn wants to put on here, does that mean that you should ignore the facts and just sugarcoat it and pretend that Theresa just walked away? Bonehead is just that and instead of just telling the stories she wants to tell about him, people need to hear about the domestic violence and mental issues that were going on with him. I love my siblings too but if their spouse was missing and presumed murdered by the police, I would be worrying about her and her family instead of how bad the investigators were getting on my nerves and how good my hair looked on camera. I don't understand why some of you are so concerned with me posting this article when it's only the truth......if this was a story on the news and not about Carolyn's brother, you would see the light but somehow when it is someone we know, we see what we want to see....kind of like how Carolyn chooses to see what she wants to see of Sam.
  • thegagal said 1 years ago
That was very thoughtful of you. We've still got the fliers up here too, but sadly we all know they aren't going to help find her because we know Theresa isn't out there walking around anybody's neighborhood going on with her life. The fliers do help remind us everyday though that we aren't going to give up until we find her and that we all need to cherish each day like it's our last. [HEART]

How great it is to see someone who really cares for Theresa. I have thought the exact same thing about that family. I've been following this case since the beginning. I have also since stumbling upon your article here went and read dawgnurses articles. How awful for Theresa and her family. It seems to be almost like a joke to her. I don't think I read once where she's has any concern for Theresas family. It's all about how she has been inconvieneced. What a shame someone can act like that. The Lord don't look to kindly on those kinds of people and maybe they should think about why they are having their troubles..sometimes it's well deserved. I hope you don't let any of her friends here make you take this down. I think it's incredible what you're doing. Don't give up like they all said the truth will come out. When it does they will see how wrong they are. My prayers are with Theresa and her family. GOD bless then and GOD bless you![HEART][HEART][HEART]

Thank you. I believe in the justice system and I don't think there is a such thing as a perfect crime (God knows all) so I know it will all come out in the end. I just hope sooner than later for the sake of her family. [HEART]

i feel for both families, i pray she is found . i get the feeling their is hostilities between both families. I pray that you all can get past this and search peacefully to bring her home. Right now its not about who did it , or who you think did it , or who you feel did it , its about bringing her home to her family that loves her. After she is brought home then you search for justice. My prayers and love are with both families. May God bring her home and bring those to justice that have taken her away from you [HEART]

Luke 8:17 "For nothing is hidden that will not become evident, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light"
This verse has got me through so much I hope it helps both of your families.

    I Corinthians 13
Love is patient; love is kind.
Love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude.
    It does not insist on its own way: it is not irritable or resentful;
it does not rejoice in wrong doing, but rejoices in truth.
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
And now faith, hope, and love abide,
and the greatest of these is love.

Very, very true quote but then again everything taken from the bible is true. [HEART][THUMBUP]

Thanks for your comments. I too hope Theresa is found soon. I think you have gotten the impression though that I am personally family of Theresa's but I am not. Not sure if there is hostility between the families or not, but that is the feeling I get after reading Dawgnurse's blogs....If there weren't before, I would feel confident there would be bad feelings after reading her blogs. God bless all and keep praying.

thegagal, i love this blog!!! I think you have done a wonderful job in combining different LE released media informatives into one easy to read statement. It is wonderful to see!!! I am sure that Theresa's in-law family is hurting, you just wouldn't know it by some of dawgnurse's comments.I totally agree with what you have stated. Keep it up. [THUMBUP]
  • thegagal said 1 years ago
Thank you granna. You're right - this situation is causing so many people pain and I hope there is a resolution soon. I keep hoping that what the evidence points toward and what my personal opinion is on what happened to Theresa is proven totally wrong and she will come back home alive....still praying for a miracle but if that's not possible then at least justice.
